TCISD has been closely monitoring the weather and consulting with weather experts. At this time, we are not expecting severe weather beyond normal rainfall, and school will operate on a normal schedule on Sept. 1.

We will continue monitoring conditions overnight. If anything changes, we will communicate with families through ParentSquare, the district website and social media.

Greetings parents and guardians,

We are excited for our first day of school. Our staff will be on hand, bright and early, to welcome our enrolled students and guide them to their first period class, where they will receive their schedule. Our doors will open at 6:40 am. Students who desire to eat breakfast will proceed to the cafeteria. Students who decline breakfast will be housed in the Auxiliary Gym. Our first bell will ring at 7:10 am to release students to first period.

Please note the UPDATED traffic flow for our campus:
🚙Student parking will resume on Vauthier
🚗Regular car-rider (parent) drop off will resume on Vauthier (Student Parking Lot)
🚶‍♂️Walkers use the sidewalks on Vauthier/Duroux to access the building
🚪ALL students will enter DOOR 7 near the gymnasium
🚦Please WATCH for pedestrians, traffic signs and school zone speed limits.

Thank you for enrolling your child and preparing them for the first day of school. If you did not enroll or complete enrollment by August 9th, please visit us on Thursday, August 13th in the LMHS Library, 7:30 - 11:30 am or 12:30 - 2:30 pm.

Mayor’s Council Recap – June 8, 2026

At this week’s City Council meeting, several important recognitions and items impacting our community were addressed:

🏆 Proclamation: Celebrating Local Excellence
Council proudly recognized Jah’ Quan McAfee for outstanding athletic achievement as a UIL 4A State Champion in both the 100m and 200m events. Congratulations to Jah’ Quan on this incredible accomplishment, which reflects the dedication, hard work, and talent of La Marque’s students and the strength of our community support.

💧 Public Hearing: Sewer Rates
Council held a public hearing on Ordinance No. 2026-0010, which proposes updates to the City’s sewer rates. This item is part of ongoing efforts to ensure long-term sustainability and continued investment in critical infrastructure.

🚜 Public Works Investments (ARPA Funding)
Several projects funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) were considered to enhance City services:

Purchase of a Compact Track Loader to improve operational efficiency
Purchase of a Boom Mounted Mower to support maintenance across the city
Final close-out of the Citywide Solar Lighting Improvements Project, marking completion of upgrades that improve lighting and energy efficiency

🏛 Personnel Update
Council ratified Interim City Manager Barbara Holly’s placement of Kandice Garrett as Interim City Clerk. Kandice brings a wealth of municipal leadership experience and will play an important role in supporting Council operations and maintaining continuity in City services.
