La Junta Intermediate School

If you know Mr. Tom Pulido you know he has been a staple at LJIS over the past several years. Always visiting for lunch, offering a kind word, bright smile, warm hug to staff and students. The staff and students have always enjoyed his visits. We honored him today with a special lunch and he was presented with several cards from the students and staff. Our city manager and mayor got word of this and also presented him with an award. We are honored to call him a great friend of LJIS. Thank you Mr. Tom for always giving us your best smile and being a ray of sunshine to everyone you encounter. 💜

Just a few Field Day photos from 3rd and 4th grade field day. It was a cooler day than what we have had in the past, but the students still gave it their all and we are proud of everyone. Thanks to our 5th and 6th grade students who volunteered to help :) Way to go LJIS Cubs!!

Tomorrow is also our Awards Ceremony. Families are welcome to attend. Proud of all of our amazing LJIS Cubs!!

School will be in session a full day for our last day of school tomorrow.

Online registration for the 26-27 school year is open on July 1st and we will have in person registration in the building on August 4th. We thank you for a great year and look forward to next year.

☀️ FREE Summer Meals are back this summer! 🍎🥪

Beginning June 1st through July 31st, meals will be available for all children ages 0–18.

📍 La Junta Jr./Sr. High School
🕚 Meals served from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📅 Monday–Thursday

One breakfast and one lunch are available per child each day. Meals will be served in the high school cafeteria.

Mrs. Goheen's Power Hour students have completed several different passion projects this year. Here is a few they have been working on. We look forward to seeing what they do next year!! Way to go Cubs!!

Our 5th grade students had a "star-studded" day this week! They visited the US Air Force Academy Planetarium to learn about black holes and the zodiac constellations before burning off some energy at Main Event with bowling, laser tag, and arcade games.

It was a day to remember, and we want to give a special shout-out to the LJIS PTO for making this trip possible for our students. Thank you for investing in our kids!

Our La Junta Intermediate STUCO has been hustling all year long with their fundraising efforts, and today was the ultimate reward. We headed over to the Fox Theater for a private showing of The Sheep Detectives!

The students had a blast {(and maybe a little sugar rush)} with popcorn and drinks while enjoying the show.

A huge SHOUTOUT to our amazing STUCO Sponsor, Mrs. Fief, for coordinating this trip and keeping our leaders motivated all year. We also want to extend a massive thank you to the Fox Theater for partnering with us and providing such a cool opportunity for our students.
