The African American Studies Program at the UC San Diego examines African American life in the U.S. through interdisciplinary, Diasporic frameworks.

The concerns and interests of African Americans have set the stage for the advancement of political, educational, social, and cultural movements in the U.S. and the world. The African American Studies Program at UC San Diego is an interdisciplinary field of study that examines and leads to an understanding of the experiences of African Americans.
