Starting early isn't about rushing academics—it’s an investment in independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Montessori from infancy gives children the opportunities to make choices, solve small problems, concentrate, and participate in daily life from the start.

These experiences build independence, confidence, social-emotional awareness and a positive relationship with learning. Children are understood as competent from the start, and are given age-appropriate responsibilities that are suitable for their developmental stage.

No, learning two languages does not confuse young children. During early childhood, a child's brain is uniquely wired to absorb multiple languages simultaneously and effortlessly. Through our "One Teacher, One Language" co-teaching model, children quickly learn to associate each language with a specific Guide and context, allowing them to distinguish between English and Spanish naturally.

It is completely normal for young bilingual learners to occasionally mix words from both languages—a healthy process known as "code-switching" that reflects an expanding vocabulary and active brain development, not confusion.

Far from delaying language development, early dual-language immersion enhances cognitive flexibility, problem-solving skills, and executive function, giving your child a powerful foundation for lifelong learning.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

La Jolla Montessori has been such a blessing for our family! Since joining at age two, our daughter has grown into a confident, independent, and joyful learner. She loves the hands-on Montessori activities, and we've been amazed by her growth in practical life skills, organization, and confidence.

The teachers are caring, attentive, and truly invested in every child's success. Their guidance with potty training, social development, and daily communication has been invaluable. We are so grateful to the entire LJMS team and highly recommend this wonderful school! ~Michellie

Learning from one another! 🌟🤝 One of the greatest strengths of a Montessori classroom is the mixed-age environment, where older children naturally mentor younger classmates. By helping and guiding others, they build confidence, leadership, patience, empathy, and respect, while younger children learn through observation and encouragement. Together, they create a supportive community where everyone grows.

English and Spanish are naturally woven into your child's everyday experiences at La Jolla Montessori School. Each classroom features two dedicated Guides—one speaking exclusively in English and the other exclusively in Spanish—creating a dual-language environment much like a bilingual home.

Over time, children absorb both languages organically during familiar moments of the day, including greetings, songs, group reading, individual Montessori lessons, and mealtime conversations. Connecting new words directly to real-world context builds natural fluency and strong listening comprehension.

We love hearing from parents about how delighted they are to watch their children effortlessly begin using Spanish at home!
