🚀 From the International Space Station to the LJES Makers Space!🐳
Last week, students had the incredible opportunity to meet Ernest Smith, an aerospace engineer and innovator whose career has included work on NASA programs such as the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle Main Engine. Students learned how curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving can lead to amazing opportunities—even helping build technology used in space!
“Imagination, and the belief that you can do it, makes all things possible!”
A huge thank you to Mr. Smith for inspiring our young makers and to Ms. Mary Sue Lindsay for organizing this out-of-this-world experience!

📚✨ Librarians for the Day ✨📚

Caroline & James Barr kept our library buzzing this week! They created a must-read recommendation bulletin (check it out 👀), helped classmates find great books, and read to classes.

The highlight? Reading forts! 🏕️📖
Because books + cozy spaces = pure magic.

They definitely raised the “Barr” on reading 😉

Our incredible cafeteria is running on just one staff member serving nearly 200 meals a day—and we can do better for our kids.

We’re looking for a few parents (or community members!) to step in as paid food service workers, even just 2 hours a week, to help bring fresher meals, more menu options, and shorter lunch lines to LJES.

We already have one amazing parent helping—now we just need a few more to make it sustainable.
This role can support Muirlands too if interested.
