The Family & Learning Center provides a unique type of tutoring called Educational Coaching. All of our sessions are one-on-one and focus on teaching the student how to learn. We offer remediation programs to assist students in strengthening areas of weak cognitive processing, as well as strategic learning instruction in which students are taught meta-cognitive strategies for approaching their school work. Educational Coaching blends educational practices with neuropsychological theory. Each student’s curriculum is customized in order to effectively meet the needs of the whole individual, based on the student’s unique cognitive make-up, emotional needs, and educational needs. Due to the customized program plans and one-on-one setting, students of all abilities and ages can benefit from Educational Coaching. We work with students diagnosed with learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia, Nonverbal Learning Disorders, Auditory Processing Disorder, Visual Spatial Processing weaknesses, and language-processing difficulties. We also assist students who have ADHD/ ADD and/or executive function weaknesses, as well as any student struggling in the learning environment. We pride ourselves in establishing a warm, caring environment where students feel secure in learning to overcome their academic obstacles. In our one-on-one sessions, students build rapport with their carefully selected Educational Coaches so that learning becomes an enjoyable experience.
