Move the weight of your backside back in ➡️⬅️ to the body to condense yourself in your cut, or release point.

In all honesty if I had a quarter for every time a student came to me and said “my coach said I have to learn this pitch”. I would be sipping cocktails on a yacht with Elon.
I have always said, pitchers are like chess pieces. Some chess pieces can only move front and back, some can move diagonally, and some can move all over the place. The job of a coach is to learn how to use their pieces. Not try to change the way each piece can move on the board.
I have always asked my pitchers “are you the #1? if not, why are you not?” They will always say things like “she throws harder” or “has a good rise” etc etc. My advice to them is to not to compete with them at what they do well. Compete against them with your strengths. Whatever you do better than them, work on doing it so much better, that she has to compete against you.
Unfortunately coaches will see what their #1 does well, and tries to turn their staff into the same type of pitcher.
Bottom line, pitchers. If a coach is asking you to consistently change. They do not value YOU, for who YOU are as pitcher. Remember and play it well.

Not just a great coach but great person. PhM is honored to have Coach K - Softball Pitching Coach in our program

Ever wonder what our members experience?

I am very familiar with the sacrifices we do for our kids, and how hard we work to provide things we never had. The ugly truth is, that has nothing to do with our kids. It was us, that chose to be parents, so it is us that has to accept our own decisions to do or not to do.
Every time we weaponize our efforts, and sacrifices as a tool to guilt our kids for not matching our energy. They start to create a mindset of obligation. They will begin to feel that their efforts and sacrifice are not for the benefit of themselves, but repayment for the efforts and sacrifices we as parents chose to do. I was recently at a field and I saw a father and daughter pitching in the bullpen after they had a lesson. When I was walking by, I hear the them bantering back and forth. The father said “You know what” and before he could finish his sentence, his daughter interjected with “Yeah, I already know, you gave up your Saturday to bring me here. I get it” Just by hearing that statement, I already knew her dad is always reminding her about everything he is doing for her, and everything he is giving up.
If your kid lacked effort, struck out looking, walked to many batters, or get straight A’s. Let them know, and keep them accountable. There is no reason to include your sacrifices into that sentiment. There is never a reason to ever say “I drove this many hours”, “I paid this much money”, or “I missed this or that” when addressing the actions of your kids. At the end of the day their effort and actions are theirs, and yours are yours. They have nothing to do with each other. You can only say so much of that before the love of the sport is replaced with obligation, and resentment
