The Global Leadership Youth Program, a collaboration between La Jolla Country Day School and the San Diego Diplomacy Council, was born out of a desire to keep our student community engaged in global affairs at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic. It provides high school students the opportunity to expand on their global knowledge, hone their leadership and negotiation skills, and build connections with students from across San Diego and around the globe. This program includes diplomacy simulations, guest speakers, deep-dive projects, and ample opportunities to connect with like-minded students.
The four modules that GLYP Summer '21 will cover include:
June 28 - July 2: Global Pride: Advocating for LGBTQ+ Rights
July 5 - 9: “Of the People”?: Democracy in Danger
July 19 - 23: There Is No Planet B: Accelerating Climate Action
August 2 - 6: Outside the Box: Design Thinking for Social Global Innovation
Click here for more details on each module: https://sandiegodiplomacy.org/what-we-do/global-leadership-youth-summer-program/
Each weekly session will be held online (mainly over Zoom) and will include a different diplomatic simulation modeled on a current real-world problem. As a facilitator, you will assist with small-group discussions and group projects, guiding students as they develop diplomatic arguments and negotiation strategies.
Join us for one, two, three or four weeks as best fits your schedule.
