Vanessa here! 👋 This weekend, the ladies of VPL gathered with our families for our second annual “company” picnic…and had the absolute best time together! The rain held off until AFTER we ate this year (instead of pouring down right at grilling time like last year), and once again the kids hit it off. My big kids loved Kate and Andrea’s little ones, and I jumped at the chance to snuggle the babies, of course. It took me right back to that beautiful chaos from when my babies were little. (But I have to admit…I didn't hate the quiet after everyone left!) 😆 I am so proud of this amazing little team we’ve built, and I can confidently say that VPL is truly a FAMILY business. 💜

Okay…how handsome are Kate’s little
gents? 😍 Can you believe baby Mack is already 7 months old?! According to mama, in the span of just one week, he popped two teeth, learned to sit independently (and how to get from tummy to sitting)…and began crawling! Mack’s big brothers are his most loyal cheerleaders, Kate reports. Keep up the good work, Mr. Mack! 🎉

If you’ve ever had surgery, you know the fasting part (or really any part) isn’t fun. Now just imagine how hangry your itty bitty baby might be! So this perk for breastfed babes is definitely one to consider.

While formula fed babies are required to fast for six hours prior to arrival for elective surgery (i.e. hernia repair, circumcision, ear tubes, etc.) breastfed babies only require three! This is because baby formula contains complex proteins and fats that require more time to digest than breast milk.

This is just one more reason you should feel good about your choice to breastfeed, mama! 💕

If you've done any air travel this summer, you probably know that flying with an infant is a whole different ball game! Set yourself up for success by knowing your rights to transport your breast milk and accessories:

- Quantities greater than 3.4 ounces (100 mL) may be packed in your carry-on (along with cooling accessories).

- You do not need to be traveling with your child to bring breast milk through security.

- Breast milk should be removed from your carry-on for screening (or additional testing if required).

- Breast pumps are permitted in your carry-on.

Be sure to inform the TSA agent that you're traveling with breast milk to speed things along, and don't be afraid to ask questions! For the most up-to-date info, check out the TSA website before you leave:

Safe (and stress-free) travels, mama! ✈️

Tell us about your breastfeeding journey, Carli!

#👶: 2

🥰: The quiet one on one time that forces you to slow down your day and getting little smiles between swallows.

👎: Always questioning if I'm doing it right— spacing feeds, offering enough, assisting with a deep latch. Vanessa has been so helpful in working through this. 🫶

⏰: Exclusively Pumped 15 Months + Breastfed 11 Weeks (and counting)!

Vanessa here—just back from my trip! 👋 As I'm looking through pics from our last few days in Munich, I remembered that I needed to share this one. What I saw is the “golden boob”…the dependable worker bee (as opposed to the “slacker boob"—IYKYK!). If you’re unfamiliar, it's the one that makes more milk and/or is baby's preferred or "chocolate" side.

But what does the rest of the non-IBCLC world see? It’s a statue of Juliet Capulet, and it’s known to bring good fortune and romance to those who rub the right breast and leave flowers in her arms.

I prefer my version! 😆 How about you??
