Due to the extreme heat, all horses will be in stalls with their fans for the next week. They will be turned out over night (where applicable). Stallions will rotate overnights in the stallion turnout. Ungentled mustangs will remain in their assigned pens.

Training sessions will be kept short and during AM/PM only.

Stay cool this week. 🥵

Heres a photo of Peach for attention😍

Couldn’t be happier with how confidently Tomahawk is starting to handle the weird stuff. Do it first, snort at it later 🥰🤣

One thing I find really interesting when I have a mixed herd of mustangs and domestic born horses together is how often they seem to sort themselves out.

Not every single time, of course, but more often than not I’ll look out in the pasture and the mustangs have buddied up with the mustangs, while the domestics are hanging with the domestics.

Same pasture. Same resources. Plenty of opportunity to choose whoever they want…and somehow they still seem to recognize that familiarity in one another.

I don’t know that I’d ever call it a hard rule, because horses will absolutely form friendships with whoever they click with, but after seeing it happen over and over with different groups, I think it’s pretty fascinating.

These two pictures are a perfect example. All 6 of these horses live together and still they split into two groups. Yes, they will all hang out together too but these are their preferred groups.

Has anyone else with mixed herds noticed the same thing?

🥇 1ST PLACE - PRO DIVISION! 🥇

Scooter and I took home 1st in the Pro Division at Country Tough Trail Versatility today, and I seriously could not be happier with this horse. ❤️

This is a stallion who spent the last year breeding at a stallion station and came back to me with very little recent riding time. Today was only his 7th ride back.

Seven rides.

And he walked into a new environment, handled everything I asked of him, kept his brain, and absolutely showed up for me. I'm so proud of how he behaved and the kind of horse he proved himself to be today.

There’s something really special about a stallion who can go from the breeding shed back to being a riding horse, haul somewhere, compete, and act like he has a job to do.

So proud of you, Scooter. 🖤🤠

1st Place Pro Division - Country Tough Trail Versatility 🏆

Edited to add some photos of the CUTEST welcoming committee ever.
