The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County will be hosting an impromptu program on the Tawny “Raspberry” Crazy Ants on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Four County Auction Center located at 11942 HWY 159, Bellville. Program registration will begin at 9 am with the first presentation beginning at 9:30 am.

Information to be covered includes The Curious Life of the Tawny Crazy Ant…and How to End It by Dr. Robert Puckett, Extension Program Specialist, and Insecticides Used on Livestock, In and Around Holding Pens by Dr. Sonja Swiger, Extension Program Specialist. Participants who hold a private, commercial, or non-commercial pesticide applicator's license will receive one (1) hour of continuing education from TDA (1IPM).

The program will be free to the public, since we are trying to get this information out to everyone who has recently been affected by the ants. We ask that you RSVP to the Austin County Extension Office at 979-865-2072 or online at https://austin.agrilife.org/event-registrations/ to reserve your seat.

Friends and Fellowship Highlight Walhalla Extension Education Club's Summer Luncheon:

The Walhalla Extension Education Association (EEA) Club recently met for their annual summer luncheon at the Garden Company Restaurant in Round Top.

At their meeting club members reviewed the agenda for the upcoming 2026 Texas EEA State Conference which is highlighting the 100th anniversary of TEEA. The theme for this conference is “Crowned in a Century of Purpose – Honoring our Legacy, Inspiring our Future”. The event is being held in College Station at the end of August, and a variety of tours and educational programs will be offered during the week-long program.
