Hear Chicago-area author, Jarrett Dapier, discuss book challenges and the role libraries and schools play when a book becomes the center of a public debate in Books, Censorship & the Right to Read on Friday, October 23, 7:00-8:30pm.

When "Persepolis" (Marjane Satrapi) was removed from Chicago Public School classrooms, it reignited a debate over who gets to decide what young people can read. Dapier's graphic novel "Wake Now in the Fire" is based on the true story of a group of Chicago high schoolers who work to overturn the system-wide ban of "Persepolis." Bring your questions and join the discussion. Sign-up for the event at https://lagrange.librarycalendar.com/event/placeholder-intellectual-freedom-panel-21535

We had the pleasure of hosting a storytime and tree planting at Stone Avenue Train Station to welcome our new purple prince crabapple tree to its home in La Grange! The purple prince is a fast-growing, ornamental tree known for its bright spring blooms and changing purple foliage.

Thank you and congratulations to all our summer reading challenge participants who helped us reach our community reading goal so we could plant a tree in La Grange. And thank you to the Village of La Grange for helping to bring our vision to life.
