A huge round of applause to all of our amazing students who took part in our 2026 Summer Reading Program on Beanstack! Participants were rewarded with a token to pick out a brand-new book from our book vending machine!
The fun doesn’t stop there—our September Reading Challenge has officially kicked off! This month, we are challenging students to log 500 minutes of reading. Every minute counts, whether they are reading to themselves, listening to audiobooks, or having someone read to them.

Our 6th graders kicked off their first Career Cruising Day of the year by learning all about financial literacy!

We are so thankful for our community professionals who took time out of their busy schedules to visit LES, share their knowledge, and help our students better understand the world of banking, finances, lending, and planning for their futures.

Ms. Ayres 6th Reading Block kiddos were tasked with teaching each other how to identify the Topic of a text, how to identify the main idea/controlling idea of a text, and the importance of supporting sentences.
THEY came up with anchor charts and examples on their own….
