I had the most interesting day yesterday. 💗💚💗
Three completely separate things happened—and yet when I started reading about the symbolism associated with each one, I couldn't help but notice how beautifully they seemed to connect.
First…
🤍 A GREAT EGRET
On my morning walk with Mr. D, I saw a great egret in flight near the trail loop along the river.
And it wasn't just a quick glimpse.
It glided beautifully alongside me for a bit—bright white wings and loooong legs—and then continued ahead of me, flying farther and farther into the distance.
Egrets are often associated with grace, patience, independence, intuition, and moving through transitions.
That felt pretty lovely all by itself.
Then…
🪙 A QUARTER
When I got back to the car, there was a quarter on the ground right by the back door.
Not a penny.
Not a nickel.
Not even a dime.
A QUARTER. 😂
Coins are often seen as little reminders to notice abundance, value, opportunity, or what's showing up right in front of us.
And honestly, I had to laugh.
“Okay, universe. I see you.”
And then, last night…
💚 A KATYDID
While I was driving out of the cul-de-sac to pick up my daughter, I saw what I thought was a HUGE moth fly across the windshield from upper left to lower right.
Later, while I was waiting for her to come out of her friend's house, I noticed something LARGE crawling across the hood of my car.
Turns out…
It was a KATYDID! 😳😂
Apparently, it had flown in front of my car earlier and somehow decided to hitch a ride.
I got some video of it walking back and forth across the hood, then it climbed onto my side mirror… and eventually settled right on the hood on my side of the car.
And here's where it gets really fun:
It STAYED THERE for the entire drive back home. 😳💚
Once we got into the driveway, it crawled up the windshield and all the way to the top of the car.
That's where we left it when we came inside.
💗💚💗
Naturally, I started looking up the symbolism.
Katydids are often associated with listening, intuition, adaptability, courage, and taking a leap forward.
And suddenly I had:
🤍 The egret: Gracefully move forward.
🪙 The quarter: Remember your value. Notice what is showing up.
💚 The katydid: Listen. Trust your intuition. Take the next leap.
Later, reading over my journal entry about it, I realized that I’d written, “I’ve got butterflies just thinking about it!” 🦋—which may be the perfect little symbol to add to the whole thing—transformation, change, becoming something new.
Now, do I believe every bird, coin, or bug I encounter is necessarily a message from the universe?
Not necessarily.
But I do believe there's something powerful about being willing to notice.
To pause.
To wonder.
To ask, “What could this mean for me?”
And yesterday, three very different little moments gave me a whole lot to think about. 💗
Maybe that's the real sign:
Pay attention.
Because sometimes life is speaking in whispers…
and sometimes it sends a giant flying bird, a quarter, and a hitchhiking katydid. 😂💚
Have you ever had a day where several completely unrelated things seemed to form a meaningful little pattern?
I'd love to hear about it. ✨
