Welcome Home, V-Hawks!

Move-In Day at Viterbo is always one of our favorite traditions. Our entire campus community—faculty, staff, administration, student-athletes, and alumni—came together today to welcome the newest members of the V-Hawk family.

While it’s a day full of big changes and emotional goodbyes, it showcases what makes our community so special: we always show up for each other and support the flock.

It’s been a highly educational and career prospects-enhancing summer for Viterbo student Nathan Arias, thanks to an internship with Multistack, LLC. The opportunity was the perfect fit for Arias, a computer science major with a lifelong interest in technology.

“I have learned a ton about the HVAC industry through the internship,” said Arias. “This will definitely help me in the future as it gave me some experience in the real world that can help guide me into whatever field or career path I plan to pursue after college.”

Experiences like Nathan’s internship give Viterbo students the opportunity to apply what they’re learning in the classroom while gaining valuable experience in their field.

🪽 V-Hawk Wednesday: Corbin Frydenlund • West Salem, Wisconsin

Meet our latest Student Spotlight, Corbin!
This summer, Corbin is bridging the gap between English and Theatre through the Viterbo SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship) program! Inspired by a class with Dr. Alexander Ashland, Corbin noticed a unique connection between Leo Tolstoy’s short stories and Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman.” Upon realizing there was little existing research on Tolstoy’s influence on Miller’s work, Corbin turned a class paper into an impressive SURF project titled “Masters, Servants, and Salesmen: An Intertextual Analysis of Leo Tolstoy and Arthur Miller”—getting a head start on senior thesis work before student teaching!

Beyond research, Corbin is a major leader on campus, serving as the Editor of Touchstone literary journal, Assistant Editor of Lumen newspaper, Social Media Manager for the Film Club, and an active member of both the Student Theatre Project and Education Club. After graduation, Corbin plans to become a high school English teacher and direct a drama program.

We couldn’t be prouder of Corbin’s hard work and leadership across our campus community!

Viterbo University is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service: Bill and Cindy Berg, Msgr. Joe Hirsch, Chris Sanger, and Mary Jo Werner.

Through their kindness and commitment to serving others, these individuals have made a tremendous difference in the community.

"These honorees have quietly and consistently made our community stronger,” said Bob Van Wicklin, Viterbo University vice president for advancement, marketing, and communications. “Their lives are marked by service to others, and they embody the compassion, kindness, and concern for humanity that Saint John XXIII demonstrated throughout his life.”

Looking for a little artistic inspiration? Stop by the Margaret A. Ewert Gallery at the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center and experience the creativity of our students and visiting artists.

Thanks to a generous gift from retired Logan Middle School art teacher and lifelong art advocate Margaret Ewert, the gallery has been named in her honor.

"We are blessed to have this available," she said of the gallery and the Viterbo art department. "A healthy person is one who is surrounded by art."
