Count it. Compare it. Look again. 🔎🐞

A cluster of ants. Two different leaves. A beetle with six legs. Which rock is heavier? Which caterpillar is longer?

When children count, sort, measure, compare, and look closely at the natural world, they're doing much more than practicing math skills. They're learning how to investigate: gathering information, noticing relationships, testing ideas, and making sense of what they see.

This week, when a child brings you something they've discovered, resist the urge to tell them everything you know about it. Try wondering alongside them instead:

🔎 How are these alike? How are they different?
🐛 How could we find out?

Expression gives learning a language. 🎨🎶

Children have so many ways to tell us what they're thinking, feeling, and discovering. Sometimes it comes through words. Other times, it's a swirl of paint, a new way of moving to music, an unexpected color choice, or an idea that changes completely halfway through creating it.

This week, make room for the process. Offer materials without deciding what they should become. Turn on the music without teaching the dance. Give children space to experiment, make choices, change course, and create something entirely their own.
