La Crosse Public Schools is inviting the community to help shape the future of three elementary school properties.
Community members can attend open houses at Spence, Hintgen, and Emerson elementary schools to share ideas, priorities, and concerns about potential reuse of each site. The feedback will help the district develop guidelines and recommendations for the properties.
The district is working with SEH - Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. to study existing conditions, market opportunities, and realistic reuse options. La Crosse Public Schools has not made decisions about future uses for these properties, other than they will no longer be schools.
The open houses will be informal, with no formal presentation. Visitors can stop in anytime, learn more about the project, and complete activities focused on potential uses, community priorities, opportunities, and concerns. District and SEH staff will be available to answer questions. Most people can participate in about 30 minutes. Each session will focus on the school where it is hosted.
Open houses:
β‘ Spence Elementary: Wednesday, October 28, 4:30β6:00 p.m.
β‘ Hintgen Elementary: Thursday, October 29, 4:30β6:00 p.m.
β‘ Emerson Elementary: Thursday, November 5, 4:30β6:00 p.m.
A virtual session covering all three sites will take place Wednesday, October 21, from 11:30 a.m.β12:30 p.m. It will include a brief presentation followed by opportunities for public input. π https://bit.ly/HelpShapeWhatIsNext
As the district moves forward with new spaces designed to better serve students, it also has an opportunity to think about how these older properties could meet other community needs.
Please join us, share your ideas, and help shape what comes next.
