Students at La Crosse Logan Middle School will start the year with some exciting new outdoor equipment, thanks to a generous $50,000 donation from a community donor, a $3,000 grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation, and fundraising efforts by students and families. The ninja playground equipment gives kids an opportunity to build strength and new physical skills during physical education classes and provides a fun activity for recess time.
The project was identified by students as a need during community planning conversations as part of Habitat For Humanity's Renew the Block project. Community generosity brought the vision to life and now Logan Middle students have expanded opportunities for physical activity and play, which are important for people at every age!

In the 2025-26 school year, students and their families received nearly $55,000 to make sure they could get to school, be ready to learn, and be able to participate fully in school activities.
This is one of the largest total distributions of RAK funds ever. The barriers that students face are wide, varied, and can be detrimental to well-being, educational growth and belonging.
Thanks to community members like you and many others, there is a source of financial support through Random Acts of Kindness that helps remove those barriers in targeted, flexible ways.

Here's what we hear from teachers about what Gold Star Grants mean to them.

"Thank you for all your hard work and support. There are 5 large projects that I could NOT have done at all without LPEF Gold Star Grants! And these projects have impacted now thousands (no exaggeration) of middle and high school students and have helped develop and maintain local partnerships."

Afterschool Cub Scouts at Northside Elementary/Coulee Montessori is up and running! Funded by Gold Star Grants, this 8-week program runs in the Fall and Spring of each school year.

"Programs right after school allow students to be involved without families needing additional transportation or adjusting schedules." A need identified by Community School Coordinator Jenna Anfang.

Focus on character building, life skills, family engagement, and promoting kindness and community service are just a few of the positive impacts Scouts can provide. All while having fun and making new friends!

Tinker Totes! Building Curiosity in the Emerson Elementary School Library!

Gold Star Grant funds purchased a variety of open-ended STEM materials, and totes to properly store them, to enhance the options for STEM activities in the Emerson School Library.

"The materials have been a huge success - the students love exploring the variety of materials, experimenting on how these things function, and working with others to problem solve creative design." according to Amanda Pfiffner, Library and HPL teacher at Emerson.
"These materials also were used to extend 4K lessons with more guided creation. For example, after reading a book with a bear cave, students were given materials to ‘create their own bear cave’."

It looks like the students are super engaged and enjoy digging in!

Creative Voices on Display was a Gold Star Grant awarded to Logan High School Art Teacher Allecia Kruser. Funds from the grant were used to purchase and install two permanent display cases in high-traffic areas at Logan High School. According to Kruser, “The main goal was to give students a visible platform to share their artistic voices and highlight diverse perspectives. Student artwork is now regularly displayed, more students are excited to share their work, and the displays have made art more visible and valued within the school community. The displays have created a lot of excitement and pride around student work.”

What a great way to showcase these talented artists!
