Golden Apple Awards - Staff Recognition Program

CRVA is proud to announce two of our CRVA staff were nominated for the Spring School District of La Crosse Golden Apple Award. While all CRVA staff work hard to support our virtual school a special recognition was submitted for their dedication and the support of our CRVA students and their families.

The CRVA Spring nominees are:
Mr. Morrigan Villa, CRVA Counselor
Mr. Quartell “Q” Roberson, CRVA Principal

The District Office received 57 nominations. From the nominations 23 staff were selected as “Key Staff”.

The School District of La Crosse has amazing staff that help students dream, believe, and achieve. All staff do their part to make a positive difference in our students’ lives every single day. In partnership with LPEF and LEA, this staff recognition program will recognize individuals who are making a mission driven impact on our students through quarterly and annual recognition and awards. The goal is to recognize as many staff as we can through the whole process so we can celebrate all the amazing things happening in public education.

Throughout the year students, parents, and staff recognize key district employees who are unlocking our student’s potential through a connection to our school district’s mission.

At the end of the year, a Golden Apple Awards ceremony will celebrate staff who were recognized each quarter and provide an annual award to a few staff who stood out for their significant impact on our students.

CRVA held a successful pie baking and craft time event on November 21, 2025. While the six pumpkin pies were in the oven we made Fall / Thanksgiving cards. The pies and cards were donated to the "La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner" that is held annually on Thanksgiving day at the La Crosse Center. We appreciate those students and parents who took time from their busy schedules to participate in this event. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from CRVA Staff!

🍎 Golden Apple Awards are back!

Every day, the people who make up the School District of La Crosse—teachers, administrative assistants, custodians, bus drivers, educational assistants, nutrition services staff, technology services staff, administrators, and so many others—show up for our kids. They help create a sense of belonging, safety, and possibility in spaces and places all across our district.

The Golden Apple Awards, now in their second year, honor these moments of impact. In partnership with the La Crosse Public Education Foundation (LPEF) and the La Crosse Education Association (LEA), the program recognizes staff members who inspire students to create a safe environment where everyone feels they belong and can pursue their dreams and aspirations.

There will be three nomination periods throughout the year—fall, winter, and spring—with the same focus: celebrating those who make a difference in the everyday lives of students.
