Original stories. Original scripts. Original laughs.

At Emerson Elementary School’s annual Storyfest, our third graders took ideas from their own imaginations and turned them into live performances for family and friends. From writing fractured fairytales and campfire stories to creating costumes, props, lyrics, and scripts, students led every part of the process together.

This year’s stories explored how things move, thrive, and survive in the La Crosse community and how storytelling helps us connect with what matters most. Audiences traveled through time in “Back in My Day,” explored storytelling through technology and Reading Rainbow, discovered creative Pourquoi tales, and shared plenty of smiles along the way.

Storyfest is one of the many experiences that make learning in the School District of La Crosse so special. Students build confidence, creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and real connections with one another and their community. Our staff helps bring these opportunities to life every day because we believe kids learn best when they create, collaborate, and share their voices.

Reading Corps has played a tremendous role at Emerson this past year. We are excited to announce that they will be back NEXT year with two tutors to assist with student goals!

Attention 5th Grade Families planning ahead for Middle School:

A new chapter begins as our school communities come together!

It’s official.

The School District of La Crosse Board of Education has approved names for two new elementary schools:

⭐️ Hogan Elementary School (Emerson + Spence)
⭐️ Pammel Creek Elementary School (State Road + Hintgen)

These names come after months of input from students, staff, families, and community members. Each school formed committees, gathered ideas, and worked together to narrow down options before bringing forward final recommendations.

Thank you to everyone who shared their voice and helped shape these new school communities. This is an exciting step forward for our students.
