We've recently updated the Chileda Shine School Consultation Services webpage! 💻🎉

Schools, educators, and administrators can now explore our full range of consultation services designed to support students with complex behavioral needs. The updated page includes information on individual student consultation packages, classroom consultation services, professional development workshops, behavior support services, and additional training opportunities. Our team partners with schools to improve classroom engagement, build student and staff skills, and support the implementation of evidence-based strategies.

Highlights from Camp Chileda last week! 🕵️‍♂️🔍

Last week's theme was Unsolved Mysteries, and we had a lot of fun exploring legendary mysteries like Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and more. Campers also got creative in Leisure Ed by designing their own aliens and headed out on a nature walk to search for the unknown and uncover mysteries along the way!

We wrapped up the week with an afternoon of water play in the courtyard last Friday, which was a great way to cool off and enjoy some summer fun together.

We can't believe these are the final days of Camp Chileda 2026! It's hard to believe how quickly the summer has flown by.

Summer is flying by at Camp Chileda in Menasha! ☀️

Students and staff have been making the most of the season with games, activities, and plenty of fun together. One activity that continues to be a favorite is kickball in the courtyard!

Back in June, our Menasha campus celebrated Spirit Week, and it was one of the highlights of the summer! 🌈☀️

Between tie-dye, bounce houses, themed dress-up days, and plenty of other fun activities, students had a great time all week long.

Meet Mike McKelvey, Chileda's Vice President of Philanthropic Impact👋

What drew Mike to Chileda's mission and bold vision for the future?

For him, the answer is deeply personal.

In his first blog as Chileda's Vice President of Philanthropic Impact, Mike reflects on the experiences that shaped his passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, from volunteering with Special Olympics to navigating autism within his own family.

Mike also shares his vision for strengthening philanthropic support, building meaningful partnerships, and expanding access to life-changing services for children, adults, and families with complex needs.

As Chileda continues to grow its impact, he is helping lay the foundation for an even stronger future.

Camp Chileda is almost a wrap!

During Week 11, campers traveled through time as they learned about the Gold Rush, dinosaurs, medieval times, ancient Egypt, and more. Along the way, they enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities and adventures.

This week also included a trip to Jump Start Adventure Park, the chance to create custom Camp Chileda T-shirts, relay races, and a treasure hunt. One of the biggest highlights? Filling baby pools with slime for some messy, unforgettable fun.

Don't miss our last Brighter Days Family Support Group at Chileda Shine!

Join us on Sunday, August 23, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. as we discuss strategies and tips for navigating the IEP process for your child.

If you're looking for guidance, encouragement, or a chance to connect with other families who understand your journey, this group is for you. New attendees are always welcome!

🍪 Snacks and refreshments will be available.

Thanks to the generous support of Great Rivers United Way and funding through the Otto Bremer Trust, these workshops are FREE for families. Special thanks to United Way of Wisconsin for administering this grant. August Menasha Employee Spotlight: Leah! 🌟

Join us in celebrating Leah, one of the amazing Direct Support Professionals at Chileda's Menasha Campus!

Originally from De Pere, Leah joined Chileda after graduating from UW–Stout and has built strong connections with the students she supports each day. She enjoys getting to know each student's unique strengths, interests, and personality, and loves watching them grow in confidence as they try new things and achieve their goals.

Leah chose Chileda because of the exceptional care provided to students and the supportive, team-oriented culture. She is grateful for the encouragement and guidance she's received from her coworkers and is proud to be part of a team dedicated to helping students succeed.

We're excited to share that Terri Gowey, Chileda's Chief Operating Officer, Kate Loaps, Vice President of Residential Services, and Valerie Wilmink, Chileda Shine Clinical Supervisor, will be featured speakers at the OPEN MINDS Circle Excellence Institute in San Francisco next week!

Their session, "Integrated Supports for Dual-Diagnosis: The Convergence of Mental Health & I/DD Services," will focus on the importance of breaking down barriers between mental health and intellectual/developmental disability services to provide more coordinated, person-centered support.

We're proud to see Terri, Kate, and Valerie representing Chileda and sharing their expertise with leaders from across the country.

Week 10 at Camp Chileda brought out our inner explorers! 🌿

During Nature Exploration Week, campers spent time hiking trails, casting fishing lines, spotting birds, and searching for treasures hidden beneath the soil. One of the highlights was visiting the marsh in La Crosse, where we explored the habitat and wildlife that make it such a special place.

After our outdoor adventures, we headed back to campus for some fun and educational experiments.

We had an amazing week and even celebrated a few successful catches! 🎣
