Get creative tomorrow night! Eagles @ Nightbrary will be in Murphy Library from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 16th. We will be open later than normal just for this event. There will be lots of book-related crafts such as book bedazzling, collage bookmarks, tote bag decorating, and more! 📚❤️

Join Eagles @ Nite in the Library for Bedazzling, Decorating, and Creating. Bring your favorite book and personalize it with gems and more, or design your own tote bag to take home. Enjoy getting creative and spending a relaxing night with friends! 📚

The Murphy Mobile Library was on the move this week! 🚌

Our new Outreach Student Workers, Kaylen & Syd, helped out at the mobile library in the Student Union. The UWL community was able to check out banned books as well as learn about why books are banned in the first place!

Every book in our banned book displays includes a bookmark. The bookmarks let patrons know why each book was challenged or banned in the US.

This month, Kaylen created a “Tales That Haunt” book display. And Syd created a “LGBTQ+ History Month” book display. Located by Murphy’s Mug. 👻🏳️‍🌈

To celebrate Banned Books Week, students joined Information Jason to guess banned book titles based off a series of emojis. Jason also shared why and how book bans happen in America. The top two players won Murphy Library mugs. ☕️

It’s ! 🚫📚

Banned Books Week is celebrated every year to highlight the freedom to read and draw national attention to the harms of book censorship.

In 2025, 4,235 unique titles were challenged in the US. 92% of challenges came from organized campaigns.

The American Library Association reminds us this year that a handful of people running organized censorship campaigns should not be allowed to dictate what the rest of us can read, and that the joy and creativity of reading is not only an act of resistance, but a freedom that must be protected.

The library is the perfect place to meet with friends. ✨

Our main floor is collaborative. Our second floor is silent, but we do have group study rooms upstairs that anyone can reserve for 2 hours at a time. All study rooms can fit four or more people.

Rooms 202, 203, 204, 206, 207, 275, 276, and 277 can be booked in-person via the pad outside the door or ahead of time via your Outlook calendar.

If the room is booked and the person is a no-show, then feel free to use the room until they arrive.
