Here is a new composite image of the Sun on Friday (Aug 28) courtesy of the Solar Dynamics Observatory showing a narrow coronal hole opening turning away from Earth, along with a number of solar filaments.
The solar wind data is showing signs of a weak coronal hole stream as the speed increased slightly from around 250 to near 300 km/s and there was also a light increase in plasma density.
A coronal mass ejection (CME) is predicted to pass close to Earth at some point today so I will continue to monitor the data and provide another report whenever necessary.
Earth facing solar activity during the past 24 hours was at low levels with only a single minor C-Flare detected.
