It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Hetzel, Vice Chancellor Emeritus for Administration & Finance, an individual who left an indelible mark on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Bob dedicated 17 years of exemplary service to UWL before his retirement in 2024. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the university as we know it today, providing visionary leadership, sound financial stewardship and an unwavering commitment to student success. More than that, Bob was a remarkable person who truly loved UWL and cared about this community. He will be deeply missed. 🤍

UWL’s partnership with Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences is opening doors for students to learn, collaborate and build relationships with peers abroad. 🌎

This spring, students majoring in Information Systems collaborated virtually with German peers on a real-world project. Then, the group took their learning abroad to complete the project in person! ✈️🇩🇪

Dean’s Distinguished Fellows Finn Patenaude and Anna Neuenfeldt are using drones, LiDAR and satellite data to better understand forests across the Driftless Region. 🌲

📈 Add 35,000 health care professionals to Wisconsin's workforce over the next decade

UW-La Crosse’s new Take a Student to Coffee program provided funding for 55 coffee conversations during the 2025-26 academic year, creating opportunities for students to build meaningful connections with faculty and staff outside the classroom. 🦅
