So proud of St. Francis graduate Capt. Matt Cristi ’16, who has been recognized as one of the 30 Civil Engineers Under 30!

Matt is being honored among an impressive group of young professionals who consistently go above and beyond, demonstrate exceptional leadership, and make a meaningful difference within the Civil Engineering enterprise.

Congratulations, Matt! We are proud of the way you continue to represent St. Francis through your leadership, excellence, and commitment to service. Once a Golden Knight, always a Golden Knight!

shines a spotlight on 30 Civil Engineers under the age of 30 who consistently go above and beyond, demonstrate exceptional leadership, and make a meaningful difference within their installations and across the CE enterprise.

Capt Matthew Cristi is a consistently impactful leader in the Air Force Civil Engineering community, distinguished by his work ethic, energy, and readiness for any challenge. After earning his master's in structural engineering at Stanford and commissioning through OTS at Maxwell AFB, he now serves with the 922nd Civil Engineering Flight at March Air Reserve Base.

While with PACAF/A4C, he led 6 total forces in developing a project management dashboard integrating 8 CE tools and consolidating 240 Unit Status Reports and 160 tasks—adopted by A4 during KEEN EDGE 2024 and PAC SENTRY 2025. In 2024, he integrated 21 total forces through streamlined onboarding, enabling $80M in airfield rehabilitation projects and earning recognition as 622 CEG CGOQ.

In 2025, Cristi supported SECDEF's directive to operationalize U.S. Forces Japan, conducting feasibility studies at Yokota Air Base to support 1K+ personnel and producing three $17M procurement packages for a classified facility enhancing INDOPACOM C2. He also led a 4-member team developing a beddown ex*****on plan for two collocated operating bases in South Korea, cutting response time by 50% and enabling contingency beddown of 10K+ personnel. Additionally, he analyzed modular facilities to develop $92M in construction packages supporting Prepositioned Warfighting Material storage.

Civilian-side, he's managed $15M in projects for USSF and now works at LADWP on capital improvement projects. He was also selected for SAME's Leadership Development Program.

Our St. Francis High School Brotherhood stands the test of time.

This past weekend, members of the St. Francis Class of 2015 reunited in Georgia to celebrate the wedding of Nick Horner ’15. Standing beside him as best man was Will Lombardo ’15, with classmates Prescott Lieberg ’15 and Jacob Lucas ’15 traveling from across the country to be there.

From Boston to Wisconsin to Minnesota—distance didn’t matter. The bond of brotherhood forged at St. Francis continues to endure.

This is what it means to be a Golden Knight. Formation of mind. Formation of heart. Formation of brotherhood.

Congratulations, Nick and Bailey—and thank you for reminding us that the St. Francis brotherhood lasts a lifetime.
