The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory are private schools for TK through eighth grade. Field trips are an important teaching tool at TLC and LCP.

The Learning Castle, founded in 1992 by Terry Villanueva, and La Cañada Preparatory, added in 2002, are schools that focus on each student’s needs through an individualized curriculum. Low teacher-to-student ratios, coupled with curricula developed by and for the TLC and LCP style of teaching, have led to outstanding results with students learning at an accelerated pace. Classroom work is bolstere

d by an array of enrichment programs such as art, music, dance, Spanish, computer science, physical education and the performing arts. Weekly tennis lessons are a part of the physical education program from kindergarten through the eighth grade, and the performing arts program culminates each spring with a Broadway musical production. LCP offers extracurricular opportunities in student government and student clubs such as chess and debate and is a member of both the Foothill Sports League and Middle School Tennis League. LCP will field teams in boys’ flag football, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ volleyball, and co-ed tennis. Yearly, students attend overnight trips to the Catalina Island Marine Institute, Astrocamp in Idyllwild, and Washington, D.C., to name but a few. Students also take daytrips to places like the Natural History Museum, the Long Beach Aquarium, and Kidspace Museum.

As we celebrate 250 years of America, we reflect on the remarkable journey of a young nation that has continually dared to dream, innovate, and persevere. From its founding ideals of liberty and opportunity to its achievements in science, education, exploration, and human progress, the United States stands as a testament to what is possible when people work together toward a common purpose.

Yet the true strength of our nation has never been found in monuments, buildings, or even history books, it is found in its people and in the generations being prepared to lead the future.

At The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory, we are honored to play a small but meaningful role in that ongoing story. Every day, we help shape curious minds, compassionate hearts, and confident leaders. We teach our children not only academic skills, but also the values of kindness, integrity, responsibility, and perseverance, the very principles that have helped our nation thrive for two and a half centuries.

A Celebration of Mothers, Community & Connection
On Friday, May 8, the Parent Associations of TSC, TLC, and LCP welcomed 140 incredible mothers to a beautiful Mother’s Day Luncheon at Oakmont Country Club.
Inspired by the timeless elegance of a Parisian café, the afternoon featured stunning floral décor, a specialty coffee station, a custom perfume-making experience, live entertainment, exciting raffles, and unforgettable moments shared among friends and families.
This special event was made possible through the generosity of our sponsors and contributors, whose support helped create a truly memorable celebration. We are also grateful to photographer Armen Ambarchyan for capturing the beauty and joy of the day.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated planning committee led by Parent Association President Angie Keshishian, along with Ani Mardirosian, Lena Minasyan, Alicia Fermanian, and Suzie Kiaman. Their vision, creativity, and hard work brought this elegant event to life.
Most importantly, the luncheon was a tribute to the remarkable mothers in our community, whose love, strength, and dedication inspire us every day.
Proceeds from the event will support the year-end celebrations for The Sand Castle, Learning Castle, and La Cañada Preparatory School students.

On June 2, our graduating eighth-grade students proudly walked across the stage at Lanterman Auditorium, marking an important milestone in their academic journey.
Surrounded by faculty, family, and friends, the Class of 2026 was recognized for their hard work, character, leadership, and achievements. We are especially proud of our scholarship recipients and award winners who exemplify excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
As our graduates prepare to take the next step into high school, we congratulate them on their accomplishments and look forward to seeing all they will achieve in the future.

🌺 Another Successful Year-End Celebration for TLC & LCP! 🌺
What an incredible way to celebrate the end of another outstanding academic year!
Our TLC & LCP students have spent the year challenging themselves through a rigorous accelerated academic program, demonstrating dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence every step of the way. They have worked hard, supported one another, embraced challenges, and achieved so much throughout the year. This special celebration was a well-earned reward for all of their accomplishments!
This unforgettable event was made possible through the funds raised at our Mother’s Day Luncheon, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it a success. A special thank you to our amazing community of room moms who generously volunteered their time to serve food, snacks, and drinks throughout the day.
The luau-themed celebration was packed with fun from beginning to end! Students enjoyed face painting, custom tattoos, arts and crafts, carnival games, bouncers, obstacle courses, DJ and dancing, gym competitions, and so much more. There truly was something for everyone to enjoy.
Most importantly, it was wonderful to see our students relax, celebrate their achievements, and create lasting memories with their classmates after a year of hard work and academic success.
Thank you to all the families, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this day so special. We loved seeing the smiles, laughter, and friendships that filled every corner of the celebration.

On Tuesday we proudly celebrate our incredible 8th Grade Graduates! 🎓

What an amazing journey it has been watching these young men and women grow into confident, capable, and compassionate leaders. Through every lesson learned, challenge overcome, friendship formed, and memory made, they have left a lasting mark on our school community.

As they turn the page to a new chapter, we know they are ready to take on high school and all the opportunities that lie ahead. While we will miss seeing their faces on campus, we are excited to watch them continue to learn, lead, and succeed.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and can’t wait to see where your dreams take you. The future is bright, and it belongs to you!
