FutureMakers Coalition recently launched an updated FAFSA first! website at:

The updated website includes information, tools, frequently asked questions and a pathway for students and their parents to easily navigate and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online which is essential for graduating high school seniors planning on attending college or career school.

GATHERING THE DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR FAFSA

To complete the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will need:

• Student and Parent FSA ID to sign electronically.

• Student Social Security Number

• Student Alien Registration number (if student is not a U.S. citizen)

• Parent(s) Social Security Number (if applicable)

• Note: If your parent doesn’t have an SSN, enter all zeros (e.g., 000000000). Don’t enter an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number in the “Social Security number” field.

• Student and Parent(s) Date of Birth

• Know your parents date of marriage or divorce

• Student driver’s license number if you have one

• Parent(s) and student (if applicable) 2019 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned.

• IRS Data Retrieval Tool- allows students and parents who filed a U.S tax return with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to access the IRS tax return information and transfer data directly into FAFSA form. We recommend having access to the physical returns so that you enter the information exactly as it appears into the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

• Information of untaxed income (child support received or paid, interest income, veteran’s non-education benefits, etc.)

• Information on food stamps (SNAP) benefits received during the last two calendar years (if any)

• Household size

• Information on cash, savings and checking account balances in your bank account

• Information on investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate, not including the home in which you live; and business and farm assets for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

If you live in Florida and your child turned 4 years old on or before September 1, your child is eligible for the VPK program. Some 5-year olds are also eligible, depending on their birth date. Parents can choose one of the following program options.

School Year Program – 540 instructional hours.

Summer Program – 300 instructional hours.

If your child attended a school year VPK program, he/she is NOT eligible for the summer VPK program unless extreme hardship applies.

Enrollment Requirements:

Parents must complete a VPK application online by clicking on the Florida VPK link here, or on the home page on this website — or at your nearest ELC Office.
Upload or bring the child’s original birth certificate, passport, or immunization record signed by a physician and
Upload or bring Proof of Florida Residency (e.g. electric bill, lease, driver’s license, or pay stub with address)
For a list of VPK providers, click here to select the appropriate county, then zip code in which you wish to conduct your search. Be sure to select Voluntary Prekindergarten at the bottom of the page.

***FINAL DAYS TO APPLY!***
The application window is now open for the HRMC-WISH Scholarship/Education Assistance Award. Applications are due to be turned in to the human resources department by November 13, 2020.

This scholarship program has been adopted by the Hendry County Hospital Authority Board and the Hendry Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Women in Support of Healthcare (WISH) group to encourage and promote healthcare as a career choice to interested adult residents of Hendry County or surrounding primary service areas. This program provides a student with financial assistance to complete an educational program through a State of Florida college, university or vocational program that will qualify him/her, under Florida law, for licensure in a healthcare field.

This financial assistance does *not* cover master’s or doctorate level degrees (i.e. physical therapist, medical doctor, advanced practice registered nurse), and must be for a career as a health care licensed professional that can be employed at HRMC.
