A Homeopaths Experience.....I accidentally tangled with a wasp nest yesterday while picking thimbleberries. 🐝😳
By the time I got away, I had been stung about 10 times—on my fingers, through my T-shirt, and mainly on my left leg.
My initial remedy was Apis mellifica, as the picture was exactly what we think of:
• Red, hot, swollen stings
• Burning and stinging
• Better from cold
By the second day, the swelling had begun to settle, but the itching became the dominant symptom. At that point, I switched to Urtica urens, and the itching improved significantly.
It reminded me how the acute picture can evolve, and sometimes the indicated remedy changes as the symptom picture changes.
For those building a home first-aid kit, here are a few remedies worth knowing:
🐝 Apis mellifica
Think red, hot, puffy swelling with stinging or burning pains. Better from cold applications.
🌿 Ledum palustre
Excellent for puncture wounds and lingering soreness or swelling following insect stings.
🐝 Vespa crabro (European hornet)
A lesser-known remedy that some practitioners consider specifically for wasp or hornet stings when the symptom picture fits.
🌱 Urtica urens
Often helpful when itching becomes the predominant symptom or for raised, itchy welts.
As always, prescribe the remedy to the current symptom picture, not simply the name of the injury.
There could be other remedies more suited based on the symptoms and emotional picture.
If you need help....I am here for an acute consult.
