This week, the Hays CISD Transportation Director Cassandra Behr unveiled the department’s new “Interview Bus.” She and her team saw a need to reduce barriers to bus driver recruitment and paired that with an opportunity to redesign and refit an old school bus. They can now drive this bus anywhere to recruit, interview, and hire individuals on the spot—pending criminal background checks, of course! 😄 Our talented transportation staff brought this vision to life. I am grateful for leaders like Ms. Behr, who leverage a team’s talents into results that make a difference to the students we serve! The 2026-2027 mandatory open enrollment is happening now! The dates are July 9 - Aug. 14.

During open enrollment, you can select both employer paid and voluntary insurance plans to protect you and your family. You can also update your dependents and beneficiaries if needed.

The medical plans are new, so it is imperative for everyone to enroll if they wish to have medical insurance. Failure to enroll during open enrollment results in no health care coverage for 2026-2027.

Medical consultants and benefit representatives will be on-site to answer questions and complete your enrollment.
