The Johnson Jaguars football team broke out with their highest scoring game of the season Friday night during their Homecoming game at Shelton Stadium against Del Valle, 63-7. This is Johnson’s second victory of the season bringing them to 2-5 as they handed the Cardinals their first district loss. Next up, the Jags will travel to Akins Friday, Oct. 16, to take on the Eagles.

Aside from the domination on the gridiron, and the crowning of the Jags’ Homecoming king and queen, was a well-polished performance of “Reach for the Sun” halftime show by the Jaguar band and color guard. The band and color guard are now headed to finals at the BOA Central Texas Regional!

On Oct. 9, Johnson High rolled out the red carpet at Bob Shelton Stadium when the campus celebrated Jaguar royalty with the 2026 Homecoming coronation ceremony!

Friday’s event, held prior to the start of the Jags’ home game against Del Valle, was the culmination of Homecoming festivities at the campus, which included honoring the 14 students who were elected by the student body to the prestigious court! This year, Johnson High expanded the homecoming court to include freshman, sophomore and junior students; underclassmen on the court joined senior nominees for king and queen.

Congratulations to Johnson High seniors Josiah Salas and Faith Horner who were named as the 2026 Johnson High Homecoming King and Queen! Helping to crown the new royalty were former JHS King Anthony Hidalgo and Queen’s representative Leah Cornelio. The new king and queen were announced by JHS Student Council Spirit Coordinator Neala Mugan. Congratulations to Josiah and Faith, the new JHS King and Queen! A big thank you also goes out to JHS Homecoming Sponsor Addie Keller, as well as the Jaguar cheerleaders, the Jaguar Band and the Rosettes and Majestics dance teams for another amazing ceremony!

There was cause for celebration at the Jungle at Johnson High Oct. 8 when the Jaguar volleyball team not only honored the program’s graduating seniors, but also earned a key district sweep!

On Thursday, the Jaguars volleyball team concluded their regular season home schedule with a 3-0 sweep over Del Valle! With the victory, Johnson High, led by head coach Thomas Kane, improved to 7-2 in 26-6A and remained a game behind Dripping Springs for the top spot in district with only three games left!

As a result of the amazing play on the court in recent weeks, several Jaguar student-athletes have achieved high profile career milestones! That included senior Treycee Creek who earned her 600th career kill, Hannah West earning her 500 career assist mark, junior Mya Ibarra scoring her 1,000th kill, junior Chloe Sweitzer’s 100th career block, junior Jenna Tello tallying her 1,000th career dig and sophomore Sophia Uzochukuwu scoring her 100th career block! Congratulations to our Jaguars on earning these amazaing accomplishments!

Prior to the start of Thursday’s contest, the Jaguar volleyball program, as well as family, fans and friends in attendance, recognized the seven senior student-athletes and manager who will cross the graduating stage this May! Congratulations to our senior Jags!

Johnson High continues the regular season Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Bowie, followed by a road trip to Austin Akins on Oct. 16. The Jaguars conclude regular season play by taking on Hays Oct. 20 at Bales Gym. School isn’t all fun and games… unless it’s Lotería Night at Hemphill Elementary!

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, campus administrators and educators welcomed families for an evening of snacks, prizes and friendly competition. Lotería, a traditional Mexican game similar to bingo, brought plenty of winners — and even more laughs!

Thank you to all the families who joined the fun and helped make it such a festive evening. What a wonderful way to celebrate culture and connect our school community!

Students in Kelly Lowder’s Dance class at Dahlstrom Middle School put their skills in motion this week, working through a series of exercises focused on technique and good form. Ms. Lowder guided the dancers as they practiced each movement with care and precision.

Before we gear up for the Jags' Homecoming game against Del Valle (kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.), check out this edition of Hays CISD Gameday!

In this edition, Hays CISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright, Athletic Director Lance Moffett and Jaguar head coach Sam Carlin discuss last week's game against Dripping Springs. The trio then looks ahead to tonight's game against the Cardinals, as well as a few highlights from our fall sports!
