From an action-packed field day to an unforgettable celebration at EVO, our band students have had an absolutely thrilling final week of school!

🎈 Field Day Fun: Our students had the best time running around outside, launching water balloons, and cooling down with delicious popsicles! The laughter and energy were truly contagious.

🕹️ EVO Party: Our amazing Beginner Band students had the absolute time of their lives celebrating at EVO! It was the perfect reward for all their hard work.

We are immensely proud of how much these students have grown this year, not only as musicians but as wonderful people. We hope they cherish these memories, and we can't wait to make more music and memories together next year! ☀️🎷🥁 R.C. Barton Middle School

Huge congratulations to our spectacular Wind Ensemble! They absolutely rocked the stage at the American Classic Bluebonnet Festival in San Antonio, bringing home an Outstanding Performance Award and a Division I - Superior Rating! We are so incredibly proud of the immense talent here at R.C. Barton Middle School! 🎶✨

After crushing their performance, the students headed to EVO Entertainment for a well-deserved celebration. From the arcade to the bowling lanes, they had an absolute blast celebrating their hard work together! 🎳🎉

After tonight’s approval by Dr. Wright and the Hays CISD Board of Trustees, Mr. Aaron Collins has officially been named the next Director of Bands for the Hays High School Band and Guard program!

Mr. Collins has previously served as the Associate Band Director at Hays High School for the past 8 years. During his time at Hays High School, Mr. Collins has helped lead the Hays Marching Band to 3 UIL State Marching Band appearances, both in the 6A and 5A classification, most recently advancing to the UIL 5A State Marching Band finals, finishing 10th in the State!

Mr. Collins has helped foster a strong culture of musical professionalism and excellence by being a consecutive UIL Sweepstakes recipient, helping grow and develop the schools master class and private lessons program as well as laying the foundation for student engagement and post graduate success through initiatives such as establishing the schools first Texas Future Music Educators chapter. Mr. Collins has also presented at professional music educator conferences and has served as a guest judge and clinician for programs across Texas.

Additionally, Mr. Collins has worked through the years to help create a community of strong parent, administrative and community support for his students in the Hays Band and Guard programs.

Congratulations to Mr. Santana and the Barton Jazz Band who competed in their very first Jazz Festival today!

They took part in the South Texas Jazz Festival at Brandeis High School and came out with a Superior Rating and a 2nd PLACE FINISH!!! Amazing job to the wonderful students!

We celebrated their accomplishments with a trip to Pinstack where they enjoyed a fun time of games and Bowling!!

This wouldn't be possible without the dedicated work that the students have put in this semester. And a big thank you to Ms. Vickers who took the time to give her wisdom and expertise in helping prepare this ensemble!

We are incredibly proud of our amazing Barton Middle School Band students for their outstanding success at this year’s UIL Band Evaluations!

Their dedication, discipline, and countless hours of practice truly paid off. These students have worked extremely hard throughout the year, and their performance is a reflection of their commitment to excellence and teamwork.

Our directors could not be more proud of the effort, growth, and musicianship these students demonstrated on stage. Watching them represent Barton Middle School with such pride and professionalism was truly inspiring!

Join us for our Instrument Selection Day on Friday, February 27th from 5:00PM–8:30 PM at the Hays High School Music Building! Bring your rising 6th grade student and let them explore the exciting world of band—try instruments, meet directors, and discover where their musical journey can begin.

Being part of band makes middle school more memorable, engaging, and inspiring. Students build friendships, grow in confidence, and develop skills that last far beyond the classroom.
