Sophomore Music performance major, Sara Fernandez Videla will be our second featured soloist in March! Sara chose this concerto as it was the first concerto she has performed. It has a lot of technical challenges that are tough but lots of fun to work on. Sara will be performing movements i + ii. She feels as though each one tells a different story, and by the end, it feels as though you have gone through a whole movie. It is one of those pieces that just sticks with you.

we are about 3 short weeks away from our concert. it is free and open to the public!

Sophomore, Music Performance Major, Peyton Small will be one of our featured soloists at our concert in March! Peyton chose this concerto after it peaked his interest when hearing a recording as tenor saxophone is rarely written for in the classical repertoire. This concerto was written for Carnegie Mellon saxophone professor, Jim Houlik. Jim Houlik pioneered the classical sound for tenor saxophone. In addition, the history and beautifully balanced melodically flowing and technically flashy sections in Ewazen’s compositions made it an easy choice for Peyton.

Stay tuned for more info about our upcoming performance!
