The Kutztown University Department of Social Work will host the 19th annual Community Forum Friday, March 3, including keynote speaker Admiral Rachel L. Levine, Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This in-person event brings together social work professionals, university community members and community leaders to raise awareness and develop solutions to community needs, particularly as they pertain to families. The Community Forum is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Schaeffer Auditorium. Levine is scheduled to speak at 9:20 a.m., followed by a Q&A session. Please join the National Association of Case Management for the December 14th, 2022 Professional Development Webinar: Moving Hearts Not Humans: Supporting Victims of Human Trafficking & Trauma

Human trafficking is the illegal trade in human beings through recruitment or abduction by means of force, fraud or coercion for the purpose of forced labor, debt bo***ge or sexual exploitation. This presentation will focus on recognizing possible indictors with a scenario based presentation while diving into how to have difficult conversations or screen for possible risk of human trafficking.

Training will additionally explore ways of positively implementing practices and strategies to support those working with survivors or in the community.

Let's Meet Celines for Student Spotlight Sunday!

She is currently pursuing her MSW at KU and hails from Reading, PA. While in the social work program, she is interning at a perinatal mental health provider called Everlasting Wellness, which (fun fact) is owned and founded by the first clinician to be certified in Perinatal Mental Health in all of Berks County! Celines chose to come to KU for the accredited MSW program, the diverse faculty and campus and having some virtual instruction options.

We're so happy to have Celines as a student here!

Today for Where We're From Wednesday, we are featuring Alyssa!

She is a GA in our Academic Enrichment Office, hailing from Allentown, PA. She is currently pursuing her MSW at Kutztown, and when asked what attracted her to KU for her graduate studies, she said it was because of "The beautiful campus and the social work program that would lead to local opportunities and connections in the field."

We're so happy to have Alyssa here on our campus!

Today we're featuring Alyssa, a Master of Social Work student from Allentown! The cool thing she's doing is involving her internship site, which is at the Bethlehem Health Bureau, which has her working alongside police on a social work initiative to address mental health and crisis needs in the community.
