Tomorrow - WEAR GREEN! 💚

We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our Hansel students, Abel Balderas.

For the last 2 years, Abel has walked through our front door every morning with the biggest smile! He truly brightened our hallways. He will be missed greatly by our staff, his teachers, and his friends. He was loved by all who knew him.

This Friday, August 14th, is Abel’s 7th birthday. He celebrated with his friends at a party a few weeks ago, and we want to celebrate his actual day BIG as we remember him. We ask that everyone in our community join us and WEAR GREEN (one of Abel’s 3 favorite colors) on Friday.

Please continue to keep Abel’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone who loved him in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult loss together.

We love you Abel and you will always be a part of Hansel. 💚

Yay!! Mrs. Cates is back in the classroom! What a gift! 💙🎉

🐾 Welcome Brooke Cates Back to the Classroom,! 🐾

We're excited to welcome Brooke Cates as she returns to working directly with students! Mrs. Cates has been in education for 16 years and most recently served as the Executive Director of the Krum ISD Education Foundation. Now, she's bringing her passion for education back into the classroom serving emergent bilingual students and gifted and talented students at Dyer Elementary.

Originally from Chamblee, Georgia, Cates loves that every day in education is different. "Getting to inspire curiosity, creativity, and growth in my students makes this work incredibly rewarding," she says.

Outside of school, Mrs. Cates enjoys spending time with family and friends, riding four-wheelers, baking, traveling the world, singing, and trivia nights!

Her Teaching Philosophy: "I believe learning should be meaningful, inclusive, and connected to students' lives. I strive to create a classroom community where students feel inspired to explore, take risks, and support one another."

Brooke's goal this year is to inspire curiosity and help each student build confidence in their abilities and discover their unique strengths.
