Join us to celebrate our Husky Pup Runners and a great running club season! Families are invited to run with their students in a family fun run on Thursday, September 17th! Please be at the softball field at 4:15 for a 4:30pm start.

KIC will be hosting a cookout to close out the season at the field. Thank you KIC!

have an early student release at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026.

Teachers will use the afternoon to participate in professional learning focused on
strengthening instruction and better meeting the needs of our students. This dedicated
time for collaboration and learning helps us continue providing the highest quality
educational experience for every child.

JNES Running Club Updates 9/10-9/12

Today’s 9/10 practice will be from 5:30-6:30 in the JNES Gym. Friday 9/11 practice will be from 2:30-3:30 in the JNES Gym. Students must attend practice on Friday to participate in the race on Saturday. On Saturday 9/12, meet at the adult softball field at 3:30 to get jerseys and warm up. The race starts at 4pm.

JNES Running Club Race Day is here!

We will have our first race on Friday, September 4th at 4:30pm. Please see the reminders about the race below!

-Students must be at the softball field at 4:00 to prepare with the team.
-Students will be given jerseys/bib numbers at school on Friday afternoon, they are responsible for getting them to the race.
-Runners need to be at practice on Thursday 9/3 to run in the race.
-Jerseys will be collected at field after the race.
-Details for an awards assembly will be announced soon.

The NWABSD announces that the following seats on the Kotzebue Advisory School Council are up for election at the October 6, 2026 elections:

Seat: Term
C Three-year term
F Three-year term
G Three-year term

To be eligible, a candidate must be:
1. A citizen of the United States;
2. At least 18 years of age;
3. A resident of Kotzebue for at least thirty (30) days immediately
preceding the election;
4. Qualified to vote in State and Municipal Elections;
5. Not disqualified to vote under *Article V, Section 2, of the State of
Alaska Constitution; and
6. Not a felon or been convicted of any sex-related crime or crime
involving children.

CANDIDATES MUST FILE A DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY FORM with the Superintendent’s Office BETWEEN AUGUST 30, 2026 AND
SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 to have your name listed on the official ballot.

JNES Running Club has begun! Practices are held from 3:30-4:30 on Tuesday-Friday.

The last day to join/turn in a permission slip is Friday 8/21.

Please help keep our runners safe by driving cautiously when they are out.
