The Kosciusko Foundation for Excellence in Education (KFEE), chartered in July of 1991, is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to enhance public education in Kosciusko. The founders of KFEE were comprised of Kosciusko business leaders, teacher, mothers, doctors, and concerned parents who were interested in supporting and supplementing the Kosciusko City Schools, KFEE continues to grow in it's efforts to promote and support academic excellence in Kosciusko.

KFEE Supports Kosciusko Middle Elementary Teachers📚✏️📓

Kosciusko Middle Elementary teachers received new televisions this week, generously sponsored by the Kosciusko Foundation for Excellence in Education.

These televisions will serve as valuable teaching tools, providing teachers with additional resources to enhance classroom instruction and create engaging learning experiences for students.

KFEE is proud to support our teachers and invest in resources that help provide meaningful educational opportunities for students in the Kosciusko School District.

In 2018, a multi-class reunion was held for the Kosciusko High School class of 1963 - 1975. The reunion was organized by Patricia Dismuke Bain, Kyle Kuykendall, and Lina Cook Willis, members of the Class of 1969.

After all reunion expenses were paid, a surplus remained. The funds were kept in an account for eight years as seed money for a future reunion. Since it has been decided that another reunion will not be held, the organizers and classmates chose to donate the remaining funds to benefit the community.

On behalf of the KHS Classes of 1963 - 1975, class members - Lina Cook Willis, Sherry Johnson, Patricia Dismuke Bain, Kyle Kuykendall, Gene Sanders, Cindy Heilbronner, and Pam Sills proudly presented Dr. Tim Alford, President of the Kosciusko Foundation for Excellence in Education, with a donation to support the Skipworth Performing Arts Center. The funds will be used whey they are needed most.

The Kosciusko Foundation for Excellence in Education (KFEE) was proud to provide lunch for the Kosciusko School District faculty on the first day of staff development. Faculty members enjoyed delicious barbecue by Big S BBQ.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Robert Hawkins and the Kosciusko Walmart for generously providing drinks and to Mr. Jan Deason and Prairie Farms for donating ice cream treats for dessert.

Thank you to our community partners for helping make the first day of the new school year a special one for our dedicated school staff. Your generosity and support are truly appreciated.

KFEE Announces America 250 Contest

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the town of Kosciusko is gearing up for a special celebration honoring our namesake: Tadeusz Kościuszko. Tadeusz is known as the "Hero of Two Worlds." He was a brilliant engineer whose forts and strategies helped win the Revolutionary War.

The Kosciusko Foundation for Excellence in Education is sponsoring two major competitions open to any students (ages 7-18) who live in Attala County. There is a writing contest and an art competition. Cash prizes are available in every age group.

The Writing Contest
Junior Patriots (Ages 7–10): Write a letter from the perspective of a soldier working alongside Kościuszko. (250–300 words).

The Engineers (Ages 11–14): Explain how his engineering skills won the war and why he fought for fairness for everyone. (400–500 words).

The Visionaries (Ages 15–18): Analyze Kościuszko’s final will and how his 18th-century ideas can help improve America today. (500–750 words).

Prizes: $150 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd in each category.

The Art Contest

Ages 7–10: Design a special 250th-anniversary celebration flag.

Ages 11–14: Create an "antique-style" map of a famous battle site like West Point or Saratoga.

Ages 15–18: Create a symbolic piece using images of gears, tools, and broken chains to represent engineering and equality.

Prizes: $150 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd in each category.

How to Enter
Deadline: All entries must be submitted by June 1, 2026.

Writing Submissions: Email your double-spaced essay to [email protected]. Be sure to include a title page with your name, age, and guardian contact information.

Art Submissions: Deliver your artwork to the KAP Office. Make sure to include the artist name, age, and guardian contact information with the artwork.
