The KHS Career Center recently welcomed Hannah Arnold, Admissions Recruiter for the University of Southern Mississippi, to speak to the Class of 2025. First, she met with the seniors that had already completed the USM admissions process, and then she met with all of the KHS Seniors. She shared all things Golden Eagles! Students learned about scholarships, specialized programs, clubs, organizations, admissions, financial aid, and housing. What a great opportunity for seniors to discover their options for furthering their career path. Thank you Hannah for all of the information you shared.

Pathways! Externships! Sampling the career! On Decision Day, Kosciusko High School junior Nick Sudduth declared he wanted to pursue a career in education, and now he is excited to get the opportunity to explore his passion with an externship at the Kosciusko Junior High. What a valuable opportunity to get first-hand experience with the great educators at our very own Kosciusko Junior High! Thank you Mr. Dew and KJHS for making this possible! Together we are empowering our students to pursue the career of their dreams!

PATHWAYS! Externships! Junior Idashia Miller is so excited to get started exploring her Decision Day career choice—photography!! In fact, she is getting hands-on experience within the halls of KHS—thank you to Kosciusko High School's very own Mrs. Pam Cain, KHS Yearbook Advisor, for giving Idashia this amazing externship opportunity-learning digital camera photography, using Photoshop software, creating layouts and designs! Idashia has already been spotted on campus pursuing her passion…..and, by the way, she is already getting rave reviews on her photography skills. We are so excited for Idashia and this opportunity to explore her career passion!

PATHWAYS! Externships! Hands-on career exploration! MORE KHS students started exploring their Decision Day career choices this week! It was an exciting week for juniors Alania Woolie, Amyra Lee, Katelyn Tollison, and Kate Norwood as they started their extemships at Baptist Attala Medical Center. While there, they will be able to rotate to various departments within the hospital giving them a first-hand opportunity to shadow professionals in various health-related career fields. What a wonderful opportunity for these students! Thank you Baptist Attala for partnering with Kosciusko Schools.

Dickerson Petroleum, Transportation & Services is partnering with the KHS Career Center and the TRPDD EPIC Work Experience program to give intern positions to two KHS seniors, Kameron Dotson and Robert Skeen. This opportunity gives students valuable first-hand work experience related to their career interests. We are always so happy to see and catch up with our “Once A Whippet, Always A Whippet” faces when they stop by the Career Center. KHS Class of 2024 graduate, Taylor Rutherford, is attending Holmes Community College as a FULL-TIME online student majoring in Business Technology while ALSO working FULL-TIME at Michelle Nicholson State Farm as a Multi-Line Representative/Account Manager. She has obtained her Property and Casualty insurance license and is currently studying to become Life and Health licensed. To Taylor and all of our Whippets going to college and working full-time, we are so proud of you! Continue in pursuit of your dreams! Make your future happen! You got this! You are Whippet strong!

Where is the home office of the LARGEST mechanical contractor in the state of MS located? What does this mechanical contractor do? How many people do they employ? What are the career opportunities available with this company? These are just a few of the questions Mr. Tim Cook answered when he presented to the Sophomore Focus classes about KOSCIUSKO’S very own IVEY MECHANICAL! In addition, he shared information about company wages and the employment outlook, as well as stressed to the students that there are career opportunities right here in KOSCIUSKO. This is HOME!
