Hello, my name is Stephanie
Caterpillar Clubhouse is a child-led, nature-based program that promotes active, hands-on learning while following the child's unique needs and interest. I believe that a child's education should be centered on a balanced curriculum which includes exploration, experience, creativity, imagination and freedom. Valued skills we hold important are being kind, polite, thoughtful, empathetic, with hope for a lasting love and dedication to nature. In my program I seek to develop the "whole child" focusing on cognitive, physical, social, emotional and creative skills. I offer parents access to a password protected blog site. On this site you may keep informed on what we are learning and view pictures of your child's activities. You may also use the private site to post comments or communicate with me. I am Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified along with I have my CDA (child Development Associate) I also participate in Paths to Quality Program to ensure childcare Excellence. I am Level 3 on Paths to Quality and Nationally Certified through Nature Explorer

It’s hard to put into words how different it’s going to feel not having our sweet neighbors, the Broekers, owning the house next door anymore. With their house now up for sale, there will be a little empty space in our hearts and on our street.

Some of my sweetest memories are the kids running around the racetrack tree and stopping to talk to the “Pap” tree It was always a highlight when the kids would run outside and see Mr. Broeker. He would stop what he was doing, talk to every single child, and always be so genuinely interested in everything they had to say.

Mrs. Broeker would come outside and ask the kids what we were learning that day. We would sing songs for them, give them lots of hugs, always pick up sticks in their yard. In the winter, the kids would knock on their back window while they were sitting inside reading the paper, just to wave and say hello.
They were never “just the neighbors.” They became part of our little preschool family. They watched the kids grow, listened to their stories, celebrated their excitement, and welcomed all those little muddy, noisy, happy moments that came with having Caterpillar Clubhouse next door.
I know things change, and I’m so thankful for all the years we were lucky enough to have them right beside us. The house may have a new family someday, but the memories made there will always belong to us.

Even though we are farther apart now, we will always hold the Broekers in our heart. ❤️

We had such a fun time at Art & Nature Monday! This week, we dove into the colorful world of poison dart frogs and created our very own beautiful frog paintings. 🐸

Along the way, we learned some pretty cool frog facts, explored what makes these tiny amphibians so special, and of course, got a little messy and creative!

But one of the sweetest parts of our morning was having TWO amazing grandmas join us! There is just something so special about generations learning, creating, and enjoying nature together.

We are so thankful for the extra hands, smiles, encouragement, and love they brought to our morning. What a beautiful Art & Nature day!

🌿 Meet Mossy! 🐹

Meet our newest little class pet… Mossy! 🤎

There is truly nothing better than watching the kids get SO excited to care for and learn about a new living creature. They find every book they can about him, look at pictures, learn about his habitat, what he likes to eat, and start discovering his little personality.

And the sweetest part? Mossy was just as intrigued and curious about his new little friends as they were about him! They watched each other, investigated each other, and slowly started getting comfortable together.

Then once the kids finally get to hold him… they are absolutely IN LOVE. ❤️

This is what makes nature-based learning so special. It’s not just reading about animals in a book. It’s observing, investigating, caring, asking questions, and building a real connection with a living creature.
