Ivy Tech Kokomo's 2026 Automation & Robotics Mini-camp kicked off today with a chance for participants to try their hand at programming the industrial robots that populate the Industry 4.0 lab on the Kokomo Campus.
Guided by Ivy Tech Kokomo Industrial Technology instructors, they moved step-by-step to "teach" the robot how to draw a box with its laser light. With that mastered, they were on their way ... and the fun continued as they worked to program their robots to pick up a variety of little metal "pucks."
The 20 students signed up for the week-long camp hail from Kokomo, Lewis Cass, Logansport, and Western high schools, and Sts. Joan of Arc & Patrick School, as well as home-schoolers including several from the Wisdom Builders home-schooling cooperative.

Congratulations to recent Maconaquah High School graduates Addie Maiben, Zoie Laber, Sophia Kenworthy, Alivia Resler and Abby Green! Along with their diplomas, they also celebrated their success as members of the first cohort to complete the Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) Dual-Enrollment Pathway, earning their CCMA certification and a Healthcare Specialist Technical Certificate from Ivy Tech while still in high school.
The CCMA pathway at Ivy Tech’s Peru instructional site is offered to students from Maconaquah, North Miami, and Peru high schools through the financial support of the Health Care Foundation of Miami County. The goal of the partnership is to prepare qualified, credentialed high school graduates to fill the growing need for certified clinical medical assistants in the Hoosier healthcare workforce. Grant funds were used to outfit a classroom and laboratory at the Peru site and to provide scholarships for up to 10 students a year.
Addie, Zoie, Sophia, Alivia and Abby all benefited from the financial support of the Health Care Foundation of Miami County grant. There’s still time for up to five more students from Mac, North Miami and Peru to apply to begin the program this fall with that financial support.
Anyone interested in learning more about this program and scholarship availability for coming semesters should contact Dr. Tammy Greene, dean of the School of Health Sciences for Ivy Tech Kokomo’s six-county service area, at 463-207-5889 or [email protected].
