SO MUCH MORE THAN ART 🐉🎨📚

At Central Middle School, creativity and academics come together and powerful ways! Our students explored the history and cultural significance of dragon across the world. They then became authors, creating original dragon stories complete with their dragons, origin, personality, appearance, and characteristics. 📝✨

But the learning didn’t stop there! Students also explored reptile, pupil shapes, and their functions, learning about round, slit, and a multifocal pupils before designing their own dragon eyes to match the creature they created.

This is inquiry based learning in action – research, creativity, science, storytelling, and critical, thinking all coming together! 🌎🔎🐉

At Central, we believe learning should be creative, connected, and meaningful. Our Wildcats aren’t just making art they’re becoming inquiries, thinkers, communicators, and creators.❤️💙🐾

🔬🦴 Science is OFF to an amazing start at Central Middle School!

Mr. Jackson’s 7th grade scientists kicked off their lesson by putting their observation and inferencing skills to work as they examined a bag of bones and challenged themselves to determine what animal they came from! 🧐🔎

That thinking led into hands-on stations where students identified independent and dependent variables in a variety of real-world scenarios.

This is what learning looks like at Central: curious minds, meaningful inquiry, collaboration, and academic thinking in action! 💙❤️

Our first full week is already showing what happens when Central WildKats are challenged to think like scientists! 🧠🔬

❤️💙 Day 2 at Central was all about building the foundation for an incredible year of learning!

In Mrs. Davisson’s 6th Grade Humanities class, students worked together on a collaborative team challenge, learning what effective teamwork looks like, sounds like, and feels like. These intentional experiences help students build the communication and collaboration skills they’ll need to engage in meaningful inquiry all year long.

Meanwhile, in Mrs. Alava’s 8th Grade Spanish class, students reviewed greetings and vocabulary through an interactive game of La Pesca, where they practiced speaking, listening, and encouraging one another in a fun, engaging environment.

At Central, our teachers know that before students can become great thinkers and inquirers, they must first learn how to work together, communicate effectively, and create a classroom culture where everyone can thrive. We’re excited to see our WildKats continue to grow! 🐾
