Dear Northwestern Families,

Thank you for all that you do to support us in having a safe and excellent school year. It has been a great start and we appreciate your partnership. Please read the following important safety information and know that you are appreciated in your cooperation with the school.

Beginning on Monday, August 10th, vehicles will be allowed to enter the drop off line in the morning at 7:45 am or after. No one will be permitted in the line prior to 7:45 am. This is a safety procedure that must be followed so that we are not blocking entrances or buses.

In the afternoon, vehicles will be allowed to enter the pick up line at 2:45 pm or after. No one will be permitted in the afternoon pick up line prior to 2:45 pm. We must ensure that lanes of entry and parking lot entrances are open and not blocked so that buses and emergency personnel can get in or out of the lots. Lining up on the road is also a safety concern and cannot be permitted.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter, we always want to ensure the safety of everyone. If you have family members or friends dropping off or picking up your children, please share this information with them as well so that they know our new procedures. Dear Northwestern Families,

We are excited to begin school next week. I just wanted to share a few important pieces of information. You will receive your car tags for pick up in the next few days so please keep an eye out for them. You will have to have them displayed to pick up your children. We are also including a link to the 2026-2027 handbook and I wanted to highlight the attendance policy. Please take a moment to read this change:

Northwestern Elementary Attendance Policy:
Students are tardy at 9:00. All students being dropped off must be in the drop off line at 9:00. Any student dropped off in the front of the building will be counted tardy. Grades K-5 Students arriving between 9:01-10:00 a.m. will be counted tardy. Any student arriving after 10:00 a.m. will be counted half day absent. Any student leaving after 2:30 will be counted tardy. Any student leaving prior to 2:30 will be counted half day absent.

You are welcome to come to NES on Monday, August 3rd from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm to drop off school supplies. August 4th will be our first student day. Lastly, see the dates and times below for our parent information nights.

Grade 2: 5:00 pm

Grade 3: 6:00 pm

Tuesday, August 18th

Grade 4: 5:00 pm

Grade 5: 6:00 pm

Wednesday, August 19th

Grade 1: 5:00 pm

Please see the attached letter from Mrs. Myers regarding student release/pick up numbers. New placards are being mailed to you today. Please be on the look out for them and have them displayed when you pick up your student on the first day of school.

It was decided to get new placards this year that did not have a school year, so they may be reused each year.
