Alaska Seafood Processing Leadership Institute A training program for future leaders in the seafood industry The trainees also received instruction in plant and personnel management and leadership.

The goal of this leadership institute was to train future leaders in the seafood processing industry. Promising future leaders were identified and received advanced training in seafood processing, marketing and logistics and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point HACCP certification. The training culminated in a trip to the International Boston Seafood Show.

Get trained in Ammonia Refrigeration at the UAF Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center December 15–19th from 8:00 am–5:00 pm
Designed to introduce technicians to ammonia refrigeration system safety, theory, design, operation, and maintenance. The course will be a combination of in-class study, observation of operating equipment, and hands-on training with an emphasis on plant operation.

Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center hosted it’s first Seafood Processors Quality Control Training November 10-19th. This eight-day course brought together 21 Quality Control, Assurance and production professionals from 7 different companies to provide information on best seafood industry practices. The training was designed to touch on the wide range of responsibilities of QC/QA managers and provide information and be better equipped to handle seafood quality. Activities were classroom based, hands-on in the KSMSC pilot plant and also included an afternoon field trip to local processing plants. The class was taught by UAF Faculty, Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program and additional speakers statewide.
