Please remember in your prayers Subdeacon Matfei and his family as they prepare for his upcoming ordination to the holy diaconate!

On Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, at Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church in Pilot Station, by the grace of the Holy Spirit and the laying on of hands, His Eminence, Archbishop Alexei, will ordain Seminarian Matfei Peterson to the holy diacontate.

Please keep Subdeacon Matfei and his family in your prayers as they answer the call to serve the church in Alaska.

Nearly two centuries after Saint Innocent departed Irkutsk to bring the Gospel to Alaska, seminarians from Saint Herman Orthodox Theological Seminary have now journeyed to the very land from which his missionary labors first began. This pilgrimage is more than a visit to historic places - it is an opportunity to encounter the living tradition of the Church, deepen their spiritual formation, and draw inspiration from the apostolic example of Saint Innocent. As these future servants of the Church worship, learn, and pray alongside the faithful of the Irkutsk Diocese, we ask your prayers that the Lord will strengthen them for the sacred ministry entrusted to them and continue to bless the enduring bond between Alaska and the Church from which its missionary heritage first took root.

The Diocese of Sitka and Alaska has released the schedule for the 56th Annual Saint Herman Pilgrimage, to be held August 7–9, 2026, in Kodiak, Alaska. Faithful from across Alaska and beyond are invited to gather in prayer and fellowship as the Church honors the memory of Saint Herman, the beloved wonderworker of Alaska and Apa (Father) to the Sugpiaq people.

Just as a reminder - Vigil and Divine Liturgy will be taking place at Holy Resurrection this weekend. Vigil starts at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
