UT Libraries hosted an employee picnic to express appreciation for our dedicated faculty and staff ahead of the new academic year. With delicious food from Moe's and Good Golly Tamale, the picnic was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate our employees' contributions and foster connection as we prepare for a productive and engaging fall semester here on Rocky Top. ๐Ÿซ”

Courage. Confidence. And a whole lot of Volunteer spirit. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿงก

Those themes are at the heart of My Magic Tux, the first children's book published by The University of Tennessee Press. As the UT Press's first venture into children's literature, the project represents a pioneering effort that brings its storytelling efforts to a new generation of readers.

On Tuesday, July 28, community members, families, and university leaders gathered in the 21st Mortgage Plaza near the Student Union to celebrate the book's launch before coming together for a special reading in the Elaine Altman Evans Exhibit Area of Hodges Library.

Based on a true story, My Magic Tux reminds children that fear doesn't have to stand in the way of pursuing their dreams. The book also features a special typeface to help readers with reading challenges, helping more children discover the confidence to take on new experiences and find joy in reading.
