Can you spot what’s wrong with this drain configuration?

The drain is installed as an S-trap, which is prohibited under IPC 1002.3. S-traps can self-siphon, pulling water out of the trap and allowing sewer gases to enter the building.

A properly vented P-trap helps maintain the water seal and protects occupants from odors and potentially harmful gases.
