Post your favorite lunch that you enjoyed at Ramsey Elementary. Whether from the cafeteria or brought from your home. Mine was a Deviled Ham Sandwich, Potato sticks (shoestrings), and a can of chocolate pudding. Attended 1976-1982

How about that Merry Go Round? Lots of fun but man, that thing could get up some speed with the right people pushing.

I remember my first few days of kindergarten at Ramsey. It was definitely a bit of social shock, a new routine. We had the best teacher Mrs Bonds. She was super nice and took away a lot of my separation anxiety. She was so patient and nurturing to each and every student. It made my first year of school so much better having her as my teacher. I also remember my first close friend I made, Tony Cross. We stuck together like glue that year. We were buds for many years after. Great memories.

I remember this time of year at Ramsey they would put the school Christmas tree in the auditorium . All the different classes would sometimes make decorations to hang on the tree. Needless to say it was always a bit hideous and looked like a kindergarten student decorated the tree...cause they actually did. Great childhood memories though.

Kite Day : I remember a day in which we were all instructed that we were gonna build our own kite. I can't remember exactly what grade I was in then. I think we built the kites at home and then brought into school as a project. The day of flight had finally come. We all took our creations out into the big field for a test flight. Some did great and some not so great. The memories of seeing us all running into the wind just trying to get one good flight. Some were frustrated , a few disappointed , but we were all excited just to see just how well or not so well we had done. By the end of the day most of the kite creations were broken torn and tattered but the memory of that day still stands strong.

Field Day - A time of year that most students looked forward to,well atleast the competitive ones. Most of the day just hanging out with friends out in the sun. Tug of war, relays, sack race, wheel barrel race, and many more events. Sack lunch sitting in the grass under the old shade tree. And then it was time for awards. We were so proud of this ribbons. Great times and great memories.

The Unmistakable Black Roots of ‘Sesame Street’ 09/22/2020

Interesting historical information about the show "Sesame Street". I remember watching this show every day during my early years at Ramsey Elementary. Ms. Bonds was my kindergarten teacher and she was great. I also remember her son Malcolm.

The Unmistakable Black Roots of ‘Sesame Street’ The beloved children’s television show was shaped by the African-American communities in Harlem and beyond.
