Last week, Lieutenant Colonel Christopher M. Davis (Winston Law ‘19)—Special Assistant for Legal & Legislative Matters for the Office of the Secretary of the Navy—shared his experience noticing an unmet need and bringing people and resources together to fill the gap. From that vision, Vols 4 Veterans came to be.✨

Thank you to Vols for Veterans for inviting us to partner on this event, and to Lieutenant Colonel Davis for all the wisdom and lessons shared!

Looking out in the crowd and seeing professors who had been part of his journey was a beautiful reminder that the relationships built during law school can extend far beyond the classroom.

We are grateful to Lieutenant Colonel Davis for helping us see what a life of consequence looks like through one of our very own alumni. 🧡

Earlier today, we had the privilege of co-hosting the launch of the Knoxville Bar Association Attorney-Student Mentorship Program!

An esteemed panel of local attorneys and a federal judge discussed the value of mentorship and explained how students can sign up to be paired with a practicing attorney in their field of interest.

We are excited for the impactful mentorships this program will foster, thanks to our valued partners at Knoxville Bar Association! ⚖️🧡

Well, as one way to get to know our first-year students, we asked them that very question: If your first day of law school was on a soundtrack, what would your entrance song be? Here are their responses! Any songs sound like ones you’d choose? 🎶

👏 Congratulations to former TBA President George Tolbert “Buck” Lewis on being named the 2026 recipient of the William M. Leech Jr. Public Service Award! ⚖️

Presented by the TBA Young Lawyers Division Fellows, the award honors outstanding service to the legal profession, the justice system, and the community. From championing access to justice initiatives to mentoring future lawyers, Buck Lewis has made a lasting impact across Tennessee and beyond.

🏆 Lewis will be honored June 12 at the TBA Annual Convention in Knoxville.

We are so proud to have dedicated the IPL to Judge Pamela Reeves today, and we are truly grateful to her husband and children for sharing their stories and memories during today's tribute to her leadership, service, and professionalism at the dedication ceremony.
