Creative Learning Academy Homeschool Co-op

Our mission is to provide homeschool families of diverse backgrounds with enriching educational and social opportunities. We achieve this through empowering our students to help decide what we learn about and how we engage the community. This can look like parent-led workshops that feature underrepresented voices, engaging field trips, service projects that focus on local community needs, and so much more. Our co-op is not designed to take the place of parents educating their children at home, but to enhance and support each family’s homeschool experience. OUR VISION
We aspire to build an inclusive group that welcomes all variety of homeschoolers. We view diversity as a necessity to enrich a child’s learning experience, build compassion, and promote a broader understanding of the world around them. We create an environment that empowers students to play an active role in their education. Every 4-6 weeks we start our meet up by discussing what we want to learn, who we want to partner with in the community, what we want to go out and see, and how we want to invite others in. We strive to make activities educational and engaging by featuring all voices and perspectives; however, they are not intended to replace any academic components of a child’s schooling. Our goal is to create opportunities for members to share their knowledge and talents with the group through workshops, field trips, guest speakers, and more. We recognize that community service is an important aspect of personal development and know that much satisfaction and happiness comes from helping others. We look for such opportunities to share with our children and encourage them to contribute to the betterment of the world and to understand the needs of the community around them. We feel that a co-op should be run democratically, but also requires some structure and guidelines. A Steering Committee guides the co-op, to ensure that decisions are in the best interest of the members and accurately reflect the stated mission and vision of CLA. All members, including any new members, are required to vote, and all members in good standing are eligible to be on the steering committee.
