Thank you to UT President Randy Boyd for visiting Winston Law as a guest speaker for Lawyers as Leaders, taught by Larry Wilks Distinguished Practitioner in Residence Buck Lewis. Part of the Reeves Institute for Professional Leadership curriculum, the course helps prepare students to enter the legal profession with a strong foundation in leadership, ethics, and service.

On his final day at the Winston College of Law, we thank Dean Lonnie T. Brown, Jr. for his leadership during a transformative period in the college’s history. Since joining the college in 2022, Dean Brown has led with integrity, wisdom, empathy, and vision. His impact on our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends will continue to be felt for years to come.

We are grateful for his service to Winston Law and wish him the very best as he begins his next chapter as dean of Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

Rural communities across Tennessee face a growing access-to-justice crisis. The 2026 Orr Symposium, sponsored by the Tennessee Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission, the Winston Law Legal Clinic, and the Tennessee Law Review, brought scholars and the Tennessee legal community to Winston Law to examine rural legal deserts and explore practical reforms for expanding access to legal services.
