University of Tennessee Department of Nutrition and Public Health Sciences At UT, the graduate public health programs prepare students to be competent, future public health leaders.

At the University of Tennessee - Knoxville, the Department of Nutrition and Public Health Sciences has programs that prepare students to be competent, future public health or nutrition professionals. Our MPH program has been accredited since 1969, making it the first nationally accredited program outside a School of Public Health. We also formed Tennessee’s first Academic Health Department, with the purpose of bridging knowledge, improving health. The UT graduate programs are distinguished by the practical experience students gain through community-based class projects, volunteering opportunities, and well-matched field placements.

A new year, a new era! As August 1, the Department of Public Health and the Department of Nutrition have merged into the new Department of Nutrition and Public Health Sciences (NPHS). NPHS made it's first officical appearance at the UTK CEHHS College Connect Event, where we welcomed hundreds of incoming public health majors and nutrition majors to the UTK family.
